🌿 👻 Happy Myths & Legends Day! 👻 🌿 🐹 💚 💚 💚 😱 😱 😱 🥕

You may not have heard the Call of Cthulhu, but have you perhaps, have her the Whistle of El Tunche?

Deep in the rainforests of the Peruvian Amazon, legend tells of a mysterious presence known as El Tunche.

Unlike many legendary creatures, the Tunche doesn't have one universally agreed-upon appearance. In fact, in some tellings it is never seen at all. Instead, travelers know that something is out there because of its most famous—and unsettling—calling card:

a long, eerie whistle drifting through the forest. Wheeeeeeeeee ..... k!

The stories vary from place to place. The Tunche may be described as a wandering forest spirit, a mysterious soul, or simply an unseen presence moving through the jungle at night. Its whistle might be heard far away at first…and then, rather disconcertingly, seem to be getting closer.

Of course, anyone who lives with guinea pigs knows of another mysterious little creature capable of producing an astonishing whistle from somewhere in the darkness.

So perhaps the legendary Amazonian Tunche has finally been identified. 😳

A spectral Peruvian guinea pig, roaming the rainforest by moonlight.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEK!

Fear not.

He may simply have heard someone opening the refrigerator.

Wheek! Wheek!
